Frequently Asked Questions

When and where are practices held? Offseason: Practices are held Monday-Friday after school at Etiwanda High School and last from 2-2.5 hours. Saturday practices will occur either at the school or off-campus Season: Practices are held Monday-Friday during 6th period for athletes that have Track and Field as a class and last for 2-2.5 hours. All other athletes are expected to be at practice immediately after school. Practice will be held at Etiwanda High School and some off-campus training may occur. Saturday practices will occur either at the school or off-campus.

Does my athlete have to practice with the Team? All athletes must participate in practice to be eligible to compete. If an athlete is to miss practice it must be cleared with the coaching staff. Absences can led to not participating in meets or removal from the team.

Does my athlete have to participate in weekend practices? Saturday practices are essential to the development of our athletes and are requirement when held. Absences are acceptable; however, coaching staff must be notified.

What happens if my athlete is ineligible? Athlete must maintain a 2.0 GPA in order to be eligible to participate in track and field.

Can my athlete train outside Yes. Outside training is not prohibited, however, it is not recommended, as we have a highly skilled staff which will satisfy your athletes needs. To compete as an Etiwanda athlete, the athlete must participate fully in all mandatory practices. Therefore, outside training should not limit or restrict the athlete’s ability to participate in Etiwanda practices.

Is transportation provided to and from away meets? The team will provide transportation to and from meets via a bus, for specific meets (Please see Meet Schedule). Athletes can drive themselves or parent can provide transportation; however, a transportation form must be completed prior to.

Will my athlete participate in all meets? No. Some meets have qualifying marks, limited entries, and specific events. Coaches will communicate what meets and events athletes will participate in.

What do I need to do if my athlete is a transfer from another High School? CIF transfer paperwork should be submitted to the Etiwanda Athletic Director when the athlete has transferred.

How can I become a volunteer? Submit a message via the teams website, asking for volunteer opportunities.

How do I get involved with Fundraising? Submit a message via the teams website, Team will respond with the requested information.

How do I make donations or enter a sponsorship? Submit a message via the teams website, Team will respond with the requested information.

How do I know if my athlete is participating in upcoming events Coaches will communicate to athlete what meets and events athletes will participate in. In addition, Meet entries will be published to the website.

Where can I find the season schedule? Please visit the Schedule tab at the top of the page.

Can I pick what events my athlete participates in? No. Athletes can choose what track and field disciplines they would like to train for. However, Coaches will select and communicate what events athletes will participate in.

How do I escalate concerns to the coaching staff? Please visit the contact link on the home page to submit questions and concerns. Head Coach or representative will respond. Coaches will not speak with parents during practice hours. Please note, coaches will communicate all necessary information with athletes.

Is a uniform required to compete? Yes. All athletes are required to participate in High School branded uniforms per CIF guidelines.

Where can I purchase a uniform? Uniforms can be purchased through the student store, either in-person or online.

When are tryouts? Please visit the Schedule tab to obtain dates and times of tryouts. The schools website will also have the dates and times listed.

How do I submit my Athletic Physical paperwork? All physical documentation must be submitted to www.athleticclearance.com, prior to participation and tryouts. Coaches are not responsible for uploading the appropriate documentation?

What types attire, shoes or equipment is needed? Athletes should always wear attire that is appropriate for the conditions. The attire should not be restrictive and allow for free movement. Each discipline requires specific shoes, so please have athlete communicate with coaches prior to purchasing. Standard equipment is provided by the school. However, additional items like massage rollers, resistance bands, backpacks, etc. will be at the expense of the athlete.

How can I excuse my athlete from 6th period Track Class? 6th period track is a class; therefore, absences must be cleared through attendance. Parent should notify administration of the athletes need to be released and follow the schools release policy.
